Before you fill out this form

Things you will need

  • You must obtain a Building Consent from Wellington City Council before filling out this application.
  • An A3 site plan must be attached to this application
  • If these works require access to a neighbouring property, the neighbour’s permission in writing must be provided with this application.
  • You must provide at least five full working days’ notice before the intended connection is required.

Access requirements

Once your application is approved, Wellington Water will contact the applicant to arrange details to carry out the works. The connection to the Wellington City Council public drainage network will be carried out by Wellington Water.

The excavation exposing the public network must be completed before Wellington Water staff arrive to carry out the drainage connection and to complete the testing and inspection.

The excavation must be large enough to allow the connection work to be safely done and must comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and all relevant regulations, including the Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995 and the Health and Safety at Work (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016.

The lateral leading up to the connection must be carried out by a Certified drainlayer. All new drainage must be recorded by the drainlayer. Measurements (from at least two fixed points, able to be located again in the future) relating to the position of the new connection are to be recorded and included with the as-built documentation/plans.
